GenHQ Review: What Is Inside, What It Costs and Who It Is Not For
GenHQ is a paid creative AI education community on Skool. It launched in April 2025 and as of September 2026 has over 1,600 members. It teaches how to make finished work with AI tools, film, ads and commercials, images, sound and design, and how to turn that work into paying clients.
This is a straight walk through what is inside, how the week runs, what it costs, and who it is not for.
What is inside the classroom
The classroom is organised by tool and by process. There are breakdowns of each major model as it lands, then process modules that show a piece being made from idea to finished edit. Recent examples include the Seedance 2.5 process module, a real estate video module and a ChatGPT Astra 6 module, each posted within days of the tool changing.
Alongside the tool modules there is a business track. Pricing creative AI work, storyboards and pre production for clients, realistic UGC ads, product consistency for e-commerce, and how members have landed their first brand jobs.
New trainings go up twice a week. Every video is subtitled in 28 languages.
The weekly rhythm
The community runs on a schedule rather than on a library. There are Q&A sessions through the week for technical questions. There is a weekly feedback session where members' own work is reviewed piece by piece. And there is a $100 weekly challenge with a brief and a winner, which is the thing members mention most in their reviews because it makes you finish something every week.
New members get a welcome session so they know where to start, and there are in-person meetups around the world for those who want to meet other members face to face.
The guests
Guest series and interviews come from people working at the top of the industry. A multi-part VFX series is taught by an Oscar winner. Interview guests have included the former head of innovation at Netflix, founders of tools members use every day, and creatives who built agency businesses on AI work early. Those recordings live in the classroom and the interviews tab.
What a first week looks like
You join, watch the welcome session, and pick the tool module for whatever you are trying to make. Most people post something in the first few days, a clip, a still, a rough cut, and get a reply. That first bit of feedback is usually where the difference between GenHQ and a course becomes obvious, because someone tells you the reference was wrong or the sound is missing, and the next version is better.
By the end of the week the challenge brief has gone up and you have a reason to finish a piece. The people who get the most out of the community are the ones who enter that first week, not the ones who wait until they feel ready.
What it costs
Plans start as low as $67 a month. The current price for each plan is on the join page. You can cancel renewals any time.
What members say
The Skool page shows a 5.0 rating from 64 public reviews, each one tagged with how long that person has been a paying member. Read them before you decide. The themes that come up most are the speed of new content, the weekly competitions, and the feedback from mentors and other members.
Who should not join
If you want a fixed course with a start, an end and a certificate, GenHQ is not that, and one of the established schools will suit you better. If you only ever use one platform, that platform's own academy will teach its features faster than anyone. If you want to watch what people are testing without paying, r/aifilmmaking on Reddit is free and busy.
And if you are not going to make anything, do not join. The community works because people post work, get it reviewed and post again. Watching from the side is a waste of the membership.
Who it is for
Someone who wants to make finished pieces, get them reviewed every week, keep up with tools that change monthly, and get paid for the work. That is the gap GenHQ was built to fill, and it is what the people inside are doing.
Common questions
Is GenHQ worth it?
If you will post work and use the feedback, yes. The classroom keeps pace with the models and the weekly sessions are where most of the improvement happens. If you want a passive course, no.
Is GenHQ for beginners?
Yes. Each tool is taught from scratch and the welcome session shows you where to start. Members range from first-week beginners to working directors and agency owners.
Does GenHQ teach AI ads as well as film?
Yes. Advertising is where a large share of the paid work is, so UGC ads, product ads and spec commercials are covered alongside narrative film. There is a separate guide to the best community for AI ads and commercials.
Can you cancel GenHQ?
Yes. You can cancel renewals any time.
